Here's a trick that Rich has designed just for beginning magicians! It's surprising and simple: it requires no sleight of hand!
Requires: An ordinary deck of cards and a bit of practice for a casual presentation.
Effect: A volunteer cuts a deck of cards several times, then counts off the top thirteen cards. On command each card appears, in order and in the same suit - for the full suit!
The magician sets the deck of cards face up on the table and asks a volunteer to cut the deck and complete the cut. And again. And perhaps again, if the spectator would wish.
The volunteer then counts off 13 cards and set the rest of the deck aside. Taking the pack of 13 cards in hand, the spectator counts to a card by spelling A - C - E, and deals the next card face up - which is mysteriously the ace!
Then they count out T - W - O, and deal the next card, which, amazingly enough is the two! Continue counting the entire pack, and place a card after each count:
