San Luis Obispo just had it's first Tedx Talks event! I opened up as "The Ice Breaker" doing a demonstration about body language.

Pictured are myself, Wandia Chiuri who spoke about social and mobile media, Blake Irving, Yahoo VP, who spoke about technology and Phil Cisneros who shared the music of humanity.

If you want to learn about body language, I'll be doing a five minute demonstration at Good Morning SLO this month! We are going to keep it focused on the science of hands. If you want to have me come talk at your company about psychology/NLP in sales, what to look for in body language to gain an advantage or protect yourself in sales or anything to do with shifts in behavior, contact me.

Although I've been booked this month on programs all over the globe including Australia and UK, I'm most excited about being on the Mark & Brian Radio Show next week! Being on the west coast and listening to them since 1988, I've always wanted to be on the show with magic or poker. It turns out it took a book on dating to do it. By the way, Chuck Liddell is certain to come up in conversation since he was a wonderful contribution to the book with agreeing to do the introduction. He is fighting this Saturday in Canada against Rich Franklin. We are wishing him a smashing victory!

Snoop Dog fan? I'll be back stage tweaking VIP's on June 20th, 2010 at the Pozo Saloon. For details on tickets, check out the Pozo Ticket Site. If you are planning to come out, let me know and I'll look for you! Just last week, I saw David Blaine doing some backstage magic to Snoop and friends. Now I have big shoes to fill next week. It's amazing what happens in Pozo. Did you know that I was the first kid on the bus and lived out past Pozo? Crazy, small world we live in.

This section is devoted to tricks, psychology, pranks, sales and more.

I've always wanted to do this prank as a magic stunt of sorts and finally saw this on TV recently. This had to make people's head hurt. Imagine someone dressed like a vampire for a haunted house! Enjoy.

Last months trivia question asked what is a "magician" and when do you become one?

This is sort of a continuation of last month's question of "Do you have to be born with special abilities to be a magician?" Many have struggled with the "title" of magician. Personally, I do not think one can call themselves a magician because they dabble in magic. Would you call yourself a MUSICIAN if you were just learning the guitar? Not a chance. If you are highly proficient in any realm of music or magic, I think you can then transition into a "magician" or "musician" and no longer be a person who is merely interested. Often, others seem to title us as such once we are perceived to "be" something on a regular basis. I'm sorry, but grabbing your first few tricks from a magic shop does not entitle someone to be called a magician! Magic has a weird ownership to it and beginners call themselves "magicians" the instant they start. It's a tough delima because part of magic in the beginning is buildi ng the belief in others until you posses the skills, understanding, control and abilities that truly takes many years to begin to master.

In short, a magician is one who understands and possesses a mastery of some form of magical art. You do not buy it and you can't simple become one if you love magic tricks. Some will argue that you must make your living at magic to be considered a magician. This is nonsense. Many unbelievably skilled craftsman out there do not do it for money.

What do you think was the first magic trick I ever created or performed?

Stay tuned next month for the answer...

People often say that something they found was "...in the last placed I looked!" No kidding!?

Do they understand that if they kept looking after they found it, that they would be pretty stupid?

Thanks to Jacky Lopez for taking the initiative to get the license for a TED Conference in San Luis Obispo! Here's a grateful thank you for organizing wonderful speakers for our first SLO Ted event!
