• Winner gets a booking agent
• Winner gets to be showcased on Ellen

This section is devoted to tricks, psychology, pranks and more. This month, I thought I share something subtle about body language specific to sales. We wont go into "baselining" people to determine what ticks they naturally have, but you can still put quite a bit of faith in these "tells."

Scratching and rubbing - This can mean good news or bad news for you! If your customer scratches their nose at the moment you are talking about a price or feature, you can bet they just lost interest or are uncomfortable. However, if they scratch or rub their eyebrows, forehead or adjust their glasses, they are interested!

Tilted head- This "tell" is pretty straight forward. If someone is tilting their head while facing you, they are very interested, are in complete agreement or are emotionally connected to the sale.

As always, I want a cut of all sales if made from any tips I give you!;)

Last months trivia question
how Harry Houdini actually died. Contrary to popular myth, Harry Houdini did not die in the infamous Chinese Water Torture trick as erroneously portrayed in Tony Curtis' film. Instead he died of diffuse peritonitis (his appendix ruptured) which was a direct result of being playfully punched in the abdomen by a first-year student of McGill University named Whitehead. He died at Grace Hospital on Sunday, October 31, 1926 and was buried in the bronze coffin he had planned to use in yet another underwater burial illusion. Harry often let people attempt hitting him in the stomach to show his amazing strength and conditioning.

By the way, although Houdini claimed to have been born on April 6, 1874 in Appleton, Wisconsin, he actually was born on March 24, 1874 in Budapest, Hungary.

Where the heck does "Abracadabra" come from? I'll give you the real answer next month.

Sometimes we "shuffle" tasks and items over and over. Often, it can be avoidable. Take a good look at your desk and environment and ask yourself, "What can I change to make this easier?" You'd be amazed at how much positive workflow you can create by a few simple adjustments to your environment and a little re-organization. I recently added a slide out keyboard and moved my desk closer to my view. It is these little things that keep us happy, comfortable, focused and ready to power threw our workload. Perhaps, some little (or large) work-space tweaks will help you too! I really believe any amount of time taken to make improvements NOW will be given back again and again in the near future with efficiency and comfort.

I'm very grateful for the time Tom Sant, world renown speaker and proposal writer, took with our standing room only lecture. Thanks for taking the time to give an amazing lecture at the SLO STC facility.

If you have not taken advantage of the STC, you need to contact Adele at the San Luis Obispo Society for Technical Communication.
